    Top Scholastic Athletes Announced for Inaugural B.A.A Invitational Mile Milers from eight cities and towns along the Boston Marathon course will face off the day before Patriots’ Day Boston, Mass. – Almost three dozen top scholastic milers will compete in the new B.A.A. Invitational Mile on April 19, the Boston Athletic Association announced today.     Brilliant Day for USATF-NE XC Championships

    It was a gorgeous day at Franklin Park for the New England Open and Masters XC Championships (and the D2 Regionals to follow). The Masters 8K got underway with sparkling sunshine and firm footing with Greater Springfield Harrier teammates Kent Lemme and Francis Burdett trading leads through two laps.  On the third loop, Lemme put the hammer down rather decisively, pulling away to a 26:10 to 26:25 victory. Mark Hixson of the Hartford TC prevented a GSH sweep in 26:32 as GSHer Mike Nahom followed 5-seconds later. Miller clocked 4:04.3 while Kampf ran 4:36.9; both athletes won $4000 in prize money.
