The cream of the sizeable pro athlete field today assembled in Puerto del Carmen ahead of the 25th edition of the Club La Santa Ironman Lanzarote on Saturday 21st May, which included world champion Jan Frodeno, Brits David McNamee and Carolin Livesey and Olympian Ivan Rana. Advertisement Ironman officials hailed the 52-strong pro athlete field as “the strongest ever assembled” in Lanzarote, with the men’s course record holder Timo Bracht also racing. Jesse Thomas and Tine Holst win Ironman Lanzarote
Jesse Thomas pulled off a stunning victory over Ironman world champion Jan Frodeno at the Club La Santa Ironman Lanzarote, crossing the line in a time of 8:42:33. Danish athlete Tine Holst claimed her first Ironman title in the women’s race, winning in 10:02:35. The weekend comprised a series of events which saw over 1,000 athletes take part in two triathlon distances (sprint and endurance), plus an open-water swim and bike race.
