The match, which marks the start of the domestic French campaign and pits the Ligue 1 champions against the Coupe de France winners, was first played in 1949.     Paris Mayor’s Assistant: “Do you really think that the Parc des Princes is worth less than Leandro Paredes?”

    In an interview with Le Parisien, the assistant to the Mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, has criticised Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s valuation of the Parc des Princes.  Speaking in an interview with Spanish media Marca, Al-Khelaïfi hit out at the owners of the Parc des Princes, the City Council of Paris, stating that the club “didn’t feel welcome” at the stadium. PSG have played at the 40,000-capacity stadium since 1974, but Al-Khelaïfi has alluded to the possibility of leaving the stadium.     Christophe Galtier: “Kylian Mbappé’s return is a strong signal.”

    Speaking on the club’s official channel, Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has said that Kylian Mbappé’s (24) early return to training represents a “strong signal.” Mbappé returned to the Camp des Loges on Wednesday, despite only featuring in the World Cup final for France on Sunday. The former AS Monaco forward scored a hat-trick in the match, but couldn’t prevent Argentina from triumphing on penalties.  On Monday, Mbappé, along with the rest of his international teammates, attended a celebration in Place de la Concorde in Paris.     Marseille want to fund Azzedine Ounahi move with Gerson transfer funds

    Foot Mercato are reporting that Olympique de Marseille remain optimistic of offloading Gerson (25), and hope to reinvest the funds to sign SCO Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi (22).  Gerson, who has found himself cast aside at the Orange Vélodrome since the arrival of Igor Tudor at the start of the season, favours a return to former side Flamengo. According to Foot Mercato, the Brazilian side are confident of completing a deal before the end of the transfer window.     Retired Brazilian centre-back Alex (40) has given a wide-ranging interview to L’Equipe. The former Chelsea defender (2007-2012) spent two seasons in the French capital before joining AC Milan. He called time on his career two years later, in 2016. “I should not have left PSG“, regrets Alex.
