Nice let go of manager Lucien Favre

L’Équipe and AFP report this afternoon that Nice have dismissed manager Lucien Favre, in the aftermath of the team’s Coupe de France defeat to third-tier Le Puy-en-Velay over the weekend. The Swiss coach returned over the summer, but with Les Aiglons lying in eleventh place in Ligue 1, he has come under pressure and struggled to replicate the performances that made him a fan favourite in his first spell in charge. Although he had been assured of his place in November, an upturn in form has not materialised after the World Cup break, with the team yet to win in the new year.
