Niko Kovac on Bayern Munich’s dressing room, methods & more

Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe Mag, AS Monaco manager Niko Kovac reflected on his time at Bayern Munich. Strasbourg coach Thierry Laurey told us that he was surprised to discover in training that his young players had often not watched the Champions’ League match of the day before… I agree. When, a few days before our match against Nice in the Coupe de France (2-0), I asked: ”Did you watch Nice vs Nîmes?” There was silence in the dressing room. That being said, the problem seems more general to me: the players are so solicited from all sides… We must therefore see each other often and show them everything about…

Marseille President Longoria: “We do a very individualistic type of youth formation in France.”

Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, Marseille President Pablo Longoria claimed that the talent formation process in French setups is too individualistic and it is responsible for major footballing brain drain out of the country. “One of the problems we have in France is that we do a very individualistic type of youth formation, and I am happy to repeat that without any problem. The question is, why do we have so many talents and why do they go abroad? Is the integration of French players different from how other countries do so? There is a stronger individualism. It could be an explanation for the difficulties that French coaches…

Marco Verratti: “We are going to try again, we are going to try again until we die.”

Speaking to RMC Sport, Marco Verratti sought to sum up his emotions following a Champions’ League semi-final exit at the hands of Manchester City. “Of course, we were one step away from the final, so of course there is disappointment. Disappointment because we believed, up until the red card, that we were in the match, I believe that we had a lot of chances, we played much better than them. We conceded a goal with their first chance, a bit like in the 1st leg. That makes the difference when you play against great team. We are proud to have fought until the end, to have looked them dead in the…

The president made a lot of efforts for him to extend. Memphis, he wanted a team for him. That is not a criticism. I had a good relationship with him. FFF President Le Graët attempts to put pressure on Canal + for TV deal

Speaking to L’Équipe, FFF President Noël Le Graët attempted to put pressure on Canal + to force them into a new deal for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs don’t have a TV deal for next season, following the collapse of the Mediapro arrangement last year and the end of Canal +’s tide-over arrangement until the end of the season. “I can understand a little divorce, it can happen. But now, we have to stop. Canal and BeIN are our natural partners and they must put themselves at a normal level. We were at €1.3bn, it was maybe a lot with a partner that offered us…
