CM Punk Tests Material at FOX Studios for Possible ‘WWE BACKSTAGE’ Role
CM Punk was at FOX Studios in Los Angeles this week going over material for a possible role in the newly announced WWE BACKSTAGE studio show on FS1, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, confirming a long-running rumor that the network was interested in working with the former world champion.
Punk reportedly read material on-camera as a test run for the show, with Renee Young there as well, and apparently he wasn’t the only major name brought in or being considered. Johnson noted that a “number of personalities from inside and outside the WWE umbrella” were brought in including Taz, Paige, Rey Mysterio and Sean “X-Pac” Waltman.
Renee Young and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T were officially announced on Thursday as the hosts of WWE BACKSTAGE, a one-hour studio show that will begin airing on FS1 every Tuesday night at 11:00 PM ET starting November 5.
