WATCH: ‘Road To Double or Nothing’ Ep. #10 – Meet The AEW Broadcast Team!

This week’s episode of The Road to Double or Nothing starts with Cody Rhodes talking about the importance of the AEW broadcast team, putting the “lyrics to the music” the wrestlers will be making in the ring, so to speak.

The first announcement is that Alicia Atout, a wonderful friend of ours and of the website also known as the “Interview Queen”, has joined All Elite Wrestling as their official backstage interviewer. Alex Marvez, who has helped out with the recent rallies in Jacksonville and Las Vegas this year, is also shown working with Cody behind-the-scenes on what sounds like play-by-play commentary.

Cody then gets a call from Nick Jackson who wants to start locking down announcers. The Young Bucks want Excalibur onboard and called him the “anchor of ALL IN” and the “voice of PWG”. He is someone that has called a lot of matches for a whole lot of people that will be involved with All Elite Wrestling.

Brandi Rhodes officially confirms that she has signed former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts. She talks about Justin basically teaching her everything when she was just getting started out in WWE as a ring announcer. So, so far that’s Alicia Atout, Alex Marvez, Excalibur, Justin Roberts and….

Cody wraps up the episode by talking about the “favorites” in pro wrestling commentary, from Gorilla Monsoon to Lance Russell, but has a feeling that AEW is about to “get their hands on the greatest of all time”. The crew showed up at WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross’ home, who talked candidly about the loss of his wife and the wrestling fans becoming his family and bringing him back from the brink of depression.

J.R. says that he’s incredibly excited to be involved in “something new” to present new ideas, new blood and a new direction for pro wrestling. It was too good a deal to pass up, and he’s not ready to throw his iconic black hat away just yet. To those who think he’s washed up and not as good as he once was, just wait. Finally, Cody is asked “why are you so set on Jim Ross?” from a voice behind the camera.

“Because he’s f***ing Jim Ross.”
