NXT ‘Takeover: WarGames 2’ Concludes With an Epic Battle, But Who Came Out With the Win?
The main event of NXT Takeover: WarGames was surely everything fans expected and much more. The team of Ricochet, Pete Dunne and The War Raiders faced The Undisputed Era. The traditional WarGames match was their battlefield and all eight men indeed came ready for war.
Adam Cole and North American champion Ricochet started the match while their teammates were locked in two separate shark cages. Cole and Ricochet went five minutes and then Kyle O’Reilly was the next man out. He and Cole double teamed Ricochet and held the advantage until Hanson from The War Raiders came out of the cage next.

Hanson was followed by Roderick Strong from The Undisputed Era, then Rowe from The War Raiders. The Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish was out last for his team but instead of going to the ring, he went for NXT UK champion Pete Dunne’s cage. Fish had a lock of his own and slapped it on the chain, keeping Dunne from getting out. Fish threw the key into the crowd and then headed to the ring.

As Fish and the rest of his team dominated the match, Pete Dunne was trapped. But then referees came with bolt cutters and freed The Bruiserweight from the cage. Dunne entered the ring, officially starting the WarGames match. What happened next was indeed a battle for the ages.
There was chaos and carnage in both rings as weapons were used throughout. Steel chairs, trash cans, kendo sticks and tables were all utilized and each team felt the pain of each weapon. Some key moments in the match include O’Reilly grabbing Ricochet in an ankle-lock as The Undisputed Era off their opponents in the other ring.
Ricochet did not give up however and that eventually led to another high spot. Hanson, with Fish on his back, grabbed the other four men from the wall of the cage and slammed them all down hard to the mat. Ricochet climbed back to the top of the cage and did a backwards flip, taking the other seven men down in the process.

Each team stood in each ring and then came together in the middle, exchanging words and then fists. NXT commentator Mauro Ranallo screamed “trench warfare” at ringside as the eight Superstars fought. Other key high spots included Hanson coming off the top rope down onto Fish through the table. Hanson also hit a handspring double back elbow.
Pete Dunne eventually hit Adam Cole with the Bitter End. Ricochet then came off the top rope with a 450 splash onto Cole for the three count and the win. Ricochet and his team won the match and the show closed with Dunne and Ricochet on top of the cage holding their respective championships.
This was indeed a war to remember. The main event capped off an exciting night of action and this edition of Takeover will surely go down as one of the best in NXT history.
