Christophe Galtier says PSG are in the market for a winger

At his press conference ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s trip to Lens on Monday night for their cup tie against Pays de Cassel, Christophe Galtier notably discussed the club’s potential transfer business, all the while indicating he would put out the best possible side against the sixth-tier outfit.

The manager first lamented his team’s shortcomings in their two defeats in the new year so far, and pointed out that he had been working with his players to identify where and when they could more effectively win the ball back during games – and that counter-pressing would be a key feature of the coming week’s training sessions.

Galtier then insisted that “the best possible team” would be put out for Monday’s match – “There’s time between matches, I want the players to get in the groove again, there’s no reason not to. It’s be very close to the team that lines up for league matches.”

Regarding the club’s transfer business this winter, he points out that he had previously said there would only be signings if there were departures beforehand – which is now the case with Pablo Sarabia’s move to Wolves. “We’re looking for a wide player”, the Frenchman says, before adding in somewhat tongue-in-cheek fashion that he would prefer “one who’s tall, strong, good with both feet and with his head!”

He also chose to remain tight-lipped on yesterday’s reports that Inter defender Milan Škriniar had agreed to join the club this summer, indicating that he did not know whether the Slovakian international would join this month or in the summer – but that the club was hard at work on the recruitment side nonetheless.
