Christophe Galtier: “Kylian Mbappé’s return is a strong signal.”
Speaking on the club’s official channel, Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has said that Kylian Mbappé’s (24) early return to training represents a “strong signal.”
Mbappé returned to the Camp des Loges on Wednesday, despite only featuring in the World Cup final for France on Sunday. The former AS Monaco forward scored a hat-trick in the match, but couldn’t prevent Argentina from triumphing on penalties.
On Monday, Mbappé, along with the rest of his international teammates, attended a celebration in Place de la Concorde in Paris. It was expected that he would then take a break, but instead, he returned to training. It remains to be seen whether he will feature in PSG’s result to Ligue 1 action against Strasbourg on Wednesday 28th December.
Galtier said he was “very happy” to see Mbappé. The former OGC Nice manager, speaking in an interview with Paris-SG TV, transcribed by L’Équipe, added, “Kylian has had a great World Cup. This return is also a strong signal to everyone. He is a player that could have been disappointed to not lift the most beautiful of trophies, even if he was the top scorer in the World Cup. He wanted to come back quickly and be in contact with the group and prepare for the matches that are coming quickly. We are very happy to see him.”
Mbappé was joined by teammate and friend Achraf Hakimi (24) in making an early return. The Moroccan right-back competed for the Atlas Lions in the World Cup third-place play-off on Saturday.
