Adil Rami in talks with Saint-Étienne

L’Équipe report this morning that Adil Rami is currently in talks to join Saint-Étienne, with the centre-back reaching the end of his contract with Troyes.

The World Cup winner has also received a renewal offer from his current club, after successful first season that saw his experience help steer the club clear of relegation.

The former Lille and Marseille man, now 36, has not yet decided on his immediate future and is taking his time to decide between the two.

Laurent Batlles, who coached Rami in the first half of the season at Troyes before being replaced by Bruno Irles, would like to bring in the former French international as an experienced figure in a dressing room which is set to be rejuvenated following Les Verts’ relegation to Ligue 2.

The centre-back appeared 17 times in Ligue 1 this campaign, scoring three goals. It was his first season in France since leaving Marseille in 2019, having played for Fenerbahçe and Boavista in the meantime.
