It’s the Bulls’ first foray into the tournament, alongside fellow South African sides the Sharks and Stormers, and Arendse is looking forward to the challenge which awaits him and his team-mates.

“Obviously this is a competition you want to play in,” he told the EPCR’s official website. “We know it’s a very physical competition, but we pride ourselves on being a physical team. We’re really looking forward to it and can’t wait to start it off.

Bulls want to be competitive

“We like to be competitive, so we want to play in this competition. I know it’s going to be a massive one. But we have got to focus on ourselves and take it from there.”

The 26-year-old feels the Bulls have prepared well for their pool A fixtures against the French side and Exeter Chiefs. He revealed that Bulls have developed their game and will come up with some surprises in the Champions Cup.

“I think we’ve changed our game plan a bit,” said Arendse. “Usually, we keep the ball away, but now we’re focusing on attacking a bit more. I think we will have a running game and I’m looking forward to it.”
