Manchester United transfer news: Paul Pogba would be ‘risky and dangerous’ signing for Real Madrid, says Roman Calderon

Paul Pogba was described as ‘risky and dangerous’ by former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon ahead of his potential move.

The Manchester United midfielder has been linked with a move to Los Blancos for 12 months.

On Sunday, the World Cup winner confirmed he wanted a new challenge away from Old Trafford, leaving Real and former club Juventus as front-runners for his signature.

But despite Zinedine Zidane’s eagerness to complete a deal, Calderon has urged his former side to proceed with caution.

Calderon said in an exclusive interview with The Sun: “I think it is risky. It’s dangerous because he has proven his behaviour is not the best in some moments for a club like Real Madrid.

“He wants to be the protagonist many times, he is fighting with the coaches or sometimes with team-mates. That record is a bit dangerous in my opinion.

“Players can change if the atmosphere is different and they find the right players and coach. In this case, it seems Zidane is keen on him and that could change his character.”

Given the timing of the announcement by Pogba, the 68-year-old said he would not be surprised if a deal has already been struck.

The ex-Real chief said: “In my experience when the player has said it publicly it is because he has a specific offer, with salary, bonuses and everything, which he likes.

“Zidane has said publicly he wants the player and likes the player. He cannot say he is in touch with the player if he is.”

The Red Devils have said the 26-year-old is not for sale, but would reportedly consider an offer in the region of £150million.
