Chelsea news: Blues legend Didier Drogba insists nobody can replace Eden Hazard following the Belgian’s exit

Didier Drogba admits no one will ever replace Eden Hazard at Chelsea following the Belgian’s move to Real Madrid.

Hazard, who finally sealed a £130m move to the Bernabeu earlier this month, is widely considered one of the greatest players in the Blues’ history.

The Belgian carried Chelsea at times last season and many expect the club to struggle following his exit, which is compounded by their two-window transfer ban and the departure of manager Maurizio Sarri to Juventus.

And Drogba, who knows a thing or two about being a legend at Stamford Bridge, concedes the Blues will never find another Hazard.

“No one can replace Hazard, he is special,” Drogba said during an Instagram Live on his official account on Saturday.

“But someone else will come, [and] step up. Hazard is a legend at Chelsea. That’s life, that’s football.”

Hazard’s exit and Chelsea’s inability to register new players could pave the way for Callum Hudson-Odoi and new boy Christian Pulisic to shine.

Hudson-Odoi, 18, is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal within the coming weeks, while Pulisic, 20, arrives following his £58m move from Borussia Dortmund.

Didier Drogba gives his view on Frank Lampard and John Terry as managers

Meanwhile, Drogba addressed rumours surrounding the return of his old pal Frank Lampard to Chelsea as their new manager.

A fan asked the Ivorian who he thinks would be the best Chelsea manager, to which Drogba replied: “The one who is in talks now to get the job – Frank Lampard.”

Asked further about the possible appointment, the Champions League-winning striker said: “Relax! Relax!”
