Liverpool news: Steven Gerrard ‘would text transfer targets’ in bid to get them to move to Anfield

Steven Gerrard reportedly used to text players on Liverpool’s wishlist to try and get them to sign for the Premier League club.

Gerrard made 710 appearances for the Reds over 17 seasons and is regarded as a club legend.

There were times during his career when Liverpool were not challenging for domestic and European titles – thus he was their biggest draw.

ESPN report that Gerrard would text players who the Reds wanted to sign and the players named were Toni Kroos, Willian and Alexis Sanchez.

Things are a lot different these days under manager Jurgen Klopp, sporting director Michael Edwards and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon.
