Tim Anderson sprained his ankle against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
The White Sox shortstop suffered the injury in the fifth inning while fielding a ball and attempting to make a throw to first base in Boston.
Anderson was helped off the field with his team trailing 5-3 and struggled to put weight on his leg. He was ruled out for the game and Chicago announced he would be re-evaluated Wednesday.
Anderson, 26, is having a career year. The rising star entered Tuesday slashing .313/.338/.485 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs on the season.
The White Sox ended up falling to the Red Sox, 6-3. Chicago is third in the AL Central with a 36-41 record and is riding a four-game losing streak.
