Arsenal should pay £50m for Celtic ace Kieran Tierney as he is ‘every bit as good’ as Aaron Wan-Bissaka, says Chris Sutton

Arsenal should pay at least £50million for Kieran Tierney as he is just as good as Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Chris Sutton.

Wan-Bissaka’s £50million move to the Red Devils has been edging closer in recent days with reports suggesting he is set for a medical at Old Trafford.

The Crystal Palace defender had a brilliant breakthrough campaign in the Premier League and was a standout performer on the right flank of Roy Hodgson’s defence.

Tierney, 22, made 20 Scottish Premiership appearances last season, assisting five goals as Celtic won their third consecutive treble.

The left-back is highly-rated at Parkhead and the club have already rejected a £15m bid from Arsenal for the 22-year-old.

It is said Celtic want £25m for the Scot but Sutton, who spent seven years with the Hoops from 2000-2006, believes the Gunners should stump up at least the equivalent fee for Tierney in light of Wan-Bissaka’s move to Old Trafford.

“Wan Bissaka £50 million to United… Let’s hope if Celtic do sell Kieran Tierney they get a similar fee as he is every bit as good…,” he wrote on Twitter.

Tierney is also a target for Napoli and but according to the latest reports, manager Unai Emery is ‘confident’ of getting a deal done for the 22-year-old.
