Manchester United receive huge boost in pursuit of Bruno Fernandes as Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City cool interest – reports

Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City have dropped out of the race to sign Manchester United target Bruno Fernandes, reports claim.

The Sporting Lisbon midfielder is on Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar after scoring 20 league goals last season.

Fernandes, who has four years left on his Sporting contract, also played a crucial role in Portugal’s Nations League triumph earlier this month.

The Express say United are in pole position to sign the £60million-rated midfielder after Premier League rivals cooled their interest.

Solskjaer could be forced to sell wantaway stars Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku to free up funds for a Fernandes bid.

Sporting Lisbon manager Marcel Keizer is not confident of keeping the club’s star man this summer.

He said: “I want Bruno Fernandes to stay, but everyone knows the current situation.

“It’s going to be difficult to keep him going, he’s on vacation, we’ll see what happens.”

Solskjaer is keen to freshen up his squad after a disappointing sixth-placed Premier League finish last term.

The club have already signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Swansea and Crystal Palace, respectively.

And Fernandes, 24, could be a replacement for Pogba, who has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Juventus.
