Manchester United transfer news: Diogo Dalot ‘told he can leave’ Old Trafford following Aaron Wan-Bissaka signing

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot has reportedly been told he can leave the club.

The £50million capture of Aaron Wan-Bissaka is likely to limit the 20-year-old’s involvement in the first-team next season.

Dalot was dubbed ‘the best young full-back’ by former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho after completing a £19million move from Porto last summer.

Most of his 22 appearances in his debut campaign in England came under Mourinho’s successor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Evening Standard claim United are willing to listen to offers for Dalot and Marcos Rojo.

The Argentina international featured just three times under Solskjaer.

Selling Dalot, who has four years left on his contract, would leave Ashley Young and out-of-favour defender Matteo Darmian as the club’s only cover for Wan-Bissaka.

Solskjaer praised Wan-Bissaka’s ‘work ethic, talent and mentality’ after securing one of his top summer targets.

He said: “Aaron is one of the best upcoming defenders in the Premier League.

“He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player that we are looking to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further.

“Aaron is a young, hungry player and eager to learn and that’s important at his age. I am delighted he has signed with us and we look forward to continuing his tremendous development so far.”
