Matt Jarvis explains how he knew Leicester star James Maddison would make it to the ‘big time’
Matt Jarvis has backed former Norwich City teammate James Maddison to go on and play for a top six club in the future.
The 33-year-old saw Maddison’s ability first hand during Norwich training sessions, though he never got to play alongside the young midfielder due to an array of injuries.

Maddison left Carrow Road after two-and-a-half years to join Leicester, and he enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League, scoring seven times in 38 appearances across all competitions.
His performances helped the Foxes secure a ninth place finish, and earned Maddison his maiden England call-up by Gareth Southgate back in October.
The former Coventry man’s superb form has also seen him linked with some of England’s top clubs.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are all said to have entered the race for Maddison in recent weeks, and Jarvis has told talkSPORT he always knew the 22-year-old was a special talent from the very first time he watched him in training.
Jarvis exclusively told talkSPORT: “I remember his first training session and he wasn’t shy.
“At that point, it was quite an experienced changing room and he used to come straight in and chat straight away. You used to think, ‘This is great, he’s got a bit of confidence about him’.
“In training, someone would just fire the ball into him and he would have already turned and looked to play out. You’d come into close him down and he’d have gone the other way and you’d think, ‘This kid has got a bit’.
“He did really well at Coventry and came back in pre-season and had improved even more.
“I’ve spoken to a few people but I think he can go all the way. He’s a top player and his ability is shining through now. He’s only got to just carry on working hard and he’ll make it to the big time for sure.”
