West Brom ‘fuming’ as Barcelona confirm the signing of 16-year-old wonderkid Louie Barry

West Brom were left raging at Barcelona after the Spanish club announced the signing 16-year-old striker Louie Barry before relevant paperwork was completed.

The highly-rated youngster has signed a three-year deal with the LaLiga giants after ending ten years with the Baggies.

However, according to Sky Sports, West Brom and the FA are yet to complete the paperwork required for Barry to play in Spain.

It is also understood the Championship club consider the compensation fee of £235,000 to be totally insufficient.

A Barcelona statement described the wonderkid as one of the most exciting talents in English football.

Barry, who joined West Brom’s academy aged six, was a Republic of Ireland youth international before switching allegiance to England.

He has scored seven goals for England Under-16s in nine appearances after making his debut against Brazil in February earlier this year.

The forward, who is equally comfortable playing on the right wing, also broke into West Brom’s Under-23s last season.

It is understood Barry was being chased by a number of top clubs across Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the Spanish giants have fended off the competition to secure his signature.

A Barcelona statement read: “The player, who has signed for three seasons, has passed the relevant medical tests in the medical services of FC Barcelona.
