Regulars to return? Chelsea predicted line-up to face St Patrick’s Athletic in Frank Lampard’s second pre-season game

Frank Lampard will get another chance to assess his Chelsea squad on Saturday when the Blues take on St Patrick’s Athletic in Dublin.

The new boss saw his first pre-season game against Bohemians end in a 1-1 draw after he named two different XIs in each half.

Michy Batshuayi struck inside the opening 25 minutes and while Lampard was pleased with the performance, he admitted his team need to improve their fitness in the weeks leading up to the new season.

He said: “Fitness was our issue, we’ve been working hard on it, even this morning.

“Fitness was always going to be an issue against a team that’s halfway through their season. We certainly pushed ourselves to the limit.

“The quicker we get there the better. It’s about individuals getting fit. Some of the young lads were really good.

“We want to get a level of fitness and intensity in their game.”

Several first-team regulars joined up with the squad two days before the pre-season opener following extended time off due to international duty.

The likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Olivier Giroud will now be considered ready to get some game time under their belt.

Given Lampard used 22 players on Wednesday, we expect him to start the St Patrick’s friendly with players who did not feature, barring the odd exception due to positional limitations.

Here’s how the Blues could line up:
