St Patrick’s Athletic 0-4 Chelsea: Blues breeze to victory over Irish opponents for Frank Lampard’s first win

Frank Lampard won his first game as Chelsea boss as his side breezed to a 4-0 victory over St Patrick’s Athletic in a pre-season friendly in Dublin.

Attacking midfielder Mason Mount opened the scoring after he ran on to Mateo Kovacic’s pass, before Emerson Palmieri netted from outside the box.

Olivier Giroud, who was one of eleven changes that Lampard made for the second-half, turned home Kenedy’s cross and later doubled his tally with a late fourth.

Earlier this week, the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Bohemians in the Englishman’s first game in charge on Wednesday.

Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley both struck the woodwork in the second-half.

Eric Molloy, who scored the equaliser for Bohemians, came on as a second-half substitute for St Patrick’s Athletic, for whom he is on trial.

Lampard, who spent 13 years as a player at Chelsea, left Derby to replace Maurizio Sarri as Blues manager this month.
