Transfers: Sevilla guru Monchi is back and has already done 10 deals – Arsenal missed out
In March, famed transfer guru Monchi rejected a move to Arsenal in favour of a return to Sevilla.
The deal-making don spent 17 years with the Spanish side as player and a director of football, before a spell with Roma between 2017 and early 2019.
His scouting set-up saw Sevilla unearth gems from their academy like Sergio Ramos, Jesus Navas, and Jose Antonio Reyes, while he also found bargains abroad such as Dani Alves, Julio Baptista, Ivan Rakitic, and Seydou Keita.
Upon leaving Roma, he could have moved to London with the Gunners but turned them down, thanking them for their interest.
And it already looks like Arsenal have really missed a trick in failing to tempt him to north London as Monchi has already completed 10 signings for just over £100million, while transfermarkt values them at around £142m.
Furthermore, he’s also sold three players for a combined £43million to offset his outlays – now that’s what we call business.
The Gunners, on the other hand, have only signed Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli, while losing Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer. They’ve also released Danny Welbeck and Stephan Lichtsteiner and completed the sale of David Ospina.

Sevilla will, at the very least, be looking for one or two more upgrades, likely on the right wing and another in defence too.
Meanwhile there is a real possibility they will be funded be the sales of Wissam Ben Yedder, Simon Kjaer, or Sergi Gomez, while Roque Mesa could also be sold.
