Paulo Dybala called Old Trafford ‘historic’ and Manchester United are urging Juventus star to complete transfer and play there regularly
Paulo Dybala branded Old Trafford an ‘historic’ stadium last season and his remarks have resurfaced amid his strong links to Manchester United.
The Juventus striker was also linked with a stunning move to Tottenham last week, but is now said to be talks over a move to the Red Devils.
It is claimed Argentina international Dybala could be involved in a swap deal for Romelu Lukaku, and his agent is now in London for discussions.
United are interested in bringing in Dybala as his replacement, but the fact the club are not in the Champions League this season means he is not going to come cheap.
And although it is believed the 25-year-old is having doubts about not playing in Europe’s top competition, his respect for the Premier League club was evident for all to see in a tweet last season.
On the eve of Juventus’ Champions League group stage clash against United at Old Trafford in 2018, he used social media to express his awe of the famous football ground.
He wrote: “The Theatre of Dreams : To play in such historical stadiums you have to do a lot of sacrifices as a boy!”
Dybala went on to score the only goal in the match to edge the victory for his side and it’s safe to say a number of United fans loved his post then and now believe it is destiny he completes the transfer.
Meanwhile, talkSPORT correspondent Alex Crook has stated Dybala is demanding £10m-a-year at Old Trafford.
“It’s my understanding Dybala wants €10million-a-year,” he told talkSPORT host Jim White’s transfer round-up.
“He would be effectively turning his back on Champions League football for 12 months, at least, by leaving Juventus for United.
“We’re being told Lukaku, who had his heart set on Inter Milan, has already agreed terms with Juventus to go the other way, he’s just desperate to get out of Old Trafford.
“But if United want Dybala, they’re going to have to pay big money.”
