EFL football returns TODAY – Build up to Salford City vs Stevenage plus three LIVE commentary games on talkSPORT

The new football season is finally here!

talkSPORT and talkSPORT 2 will be bringing you more live commentaries than ever before with more than 100 games on the airwaves over the coming weeks and months.

Luton and Boro got things under way on Friday night and now there is a bumper day of EFL action with the Championship, League One and League Two to look forward to.

The English Football League enjoyed another memorable campaign last term and there’s sure to be all sorts of thrills and spills in the 2019/20 season, too.

talkSPORT has three live games for you today, plus our around the grounds Matchday Live show to take in every goal as it goes in across the country.

So as the season gets going, here’s what talkSPORT has got in store for you this Saturday.

Salford vs Stevenage – 11am on talkSPORT 2

Salford City’s first ever English Football League clash will kick off our Matchday coverage as Graham Alexander’s side to take on Stevenage in the opening game of the 2019/20 League Two season.

The Ammies, who are co-owned by Manchester United’s famous Class of ’92, booked their place in the EFL by beating Fylde 3-0 in the National League play-off final.

Now they will begin their adventure in the fourth tier by welcoming Stevenage, who finished 10th last term, to Moor Lane.

talkSPORT 2 will be in west Manchester for the League Two opener where a few United legends may well be in attendance too.

Salford City: Neal, Wiseman, Pond, Piergianni, Touray, Shelton, Maynard, Towell, Smith, Rooney, Dieseruvwe.

Subs: Threlkeld, Armstrong, Letheren, Burgess, Whitehead, Beesley.

Stevenage: Farman, Wildin, Cuthbert, Fielding, Stokes, Iontton, Parrett, Soares, Vancooten, Sonupe, Guthrie.

Matchday Live – 1pm on talkSPORT

talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham will take you around the grounds for all the goals as they go in during the 3pm kick-offs in the EFL.

Key Championship games include Blackburn vs Charlton and Swansea vs Hull while Fulham, Cardiff and Millwall will also be in action.

In League One, Lincoln host Accrington Stanley, Burton take on Ipswich and Sunderland face Oxford among the afternoon games.

And League Two will see Leyton Orient vs Cheltenham, Scunthorpe vs Swindon and Crewe vs Plymouth in the opening round of fixtures.

We’ll have all the latest action on talkSPORT from across the country as the EFL season gets going.

Brentford vs Birmingham – 2pm on talkSPORT 2

Our first featured 3pm kick-off of the new season will see Brentford welcome Birmingham to Griffin Park.

Thomas Frank’s Bees finished 11th in the Championship last season while the Blues ended up a lowly 17th.

Birmingham will have caretaker Pep Clotet as their manager for the new campaign and will be eager to get off to a good start.

Russ Williams will host our coverage from west London on talkSPORT 2 ahead of live commentary for all the action in this intriguing tie.

Nottingham Forest vs West Brom – 5pm on talkSPORT 2

Our first game day of the season will conclude with a clash between two of this season’s promotion hopefuls.

Forest face the Baggies at the City Ground in the evening kick-off and full live commentary of the Championship match will be live on talkSPORT 2.

Frenchman Sabri Lamouchi took charge of Forest in June and starts his reign against Slaven Bilic who is also set to make his Championship debut after moving to the Hawthorns over the summer.

Both clubs will want to at least make the play-offs this season and will be looking to lay down a marker early on in what should be a Saturday night thriller.
