Kieran Trippier: Spanish press compare former Tottenham star to David Beckham following impressive La Liga debut
Kieran Trippier has been compared to David Beckham and hailed as the ‘face of the new era’ at Atletico Madrid after an impressive La Liga debut.
The former Tottenham defender set up ex-Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata for the only goal in Atletico’s 1-0 victory over Getafe on Sunday night.

It was a beautiful cross from the England international, and Spanish publication Marca was particularly impressed by the right-back’s performance.
“His crossing is almost akin to his idol, David Beckham, and you could tell as he delivered the cross for Morata on Sunday evening which was his first assist in his debut game,” a Marca editorial read.
“Given his performances in training and in friendlies, it was a matter of time until his first assist.”
Another debutant to impress was £113million teenager Joao Felix, who danced through Getafe with a scintillating run into the box from his own half.
The 19-year-old nutmegged the first defender with an outstanding bit of trickery, before bursting away from two more players with a stunning 80-yard run.
He was eventually brought down in the box, but the resulting penalty was missed by Morata, and Felix’s debut was cut short when he was forced off with a muscle strain in the 66th minute.
