Lions' Jarrad Davis carted to locker room after suffering leg injury vs. Bills

The Lions had a bit of a scare Friday when linebacker Jarrad Davis suffered what appeared to be a leg injury in the first quarter of Detroit’s preseason game against the Bills.

Davis got his legs tangled trying to make a tackle early in the game and was assisted off the field after just two plays. He was unable to put weight on his right leg after the incident and needed to be carted to the locker room.

If Davis’ injury is serious it could weaken Detroit’s defense significantly. The 24-year-old is slotted to be the Lions’ starting linebacker in 2019 and led the team in tackles last year, notching 73.

The Lions were a middle-of-the-road team defensively in 2018 and gave up 22.5 points per game – which ranked 16th in the NFL – alongside the Steelers. They finished the year with a 6-10 record and were last in the NFC North.

Detroit doesn’t appear to be off to a strong start this season.
