Ipswich Town post GIF of James Norwood performing WWE legend The Rock’s People’s Elbow to celebrate goal in 5-0 Bolton rout

Professional wrestling saw it’s greatest ever period back in the late 1990s with the Monday Night Wars between WWE – then WWF – and WCW.

It’s safe to say 20 years on, plenty of footballers in today’s game are going to be fans of the legendary superstars that era produced like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.

When Ipswich scored the opening goal in their 5-0 rout of Bolton today through, their social media team produced a GIF of scorer James Norwood that showed the 28-year-old was quite the fan himself.

Take a look at the hilarious tweet below:

This isn’t the first time Norwood has shown his love for WWE, either. His previous effort included Austin’s famous beer smash.

Another professional footballer with a flair for celebrating WWE-style is Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp.

The Premier League forward, who scored his first goal in the top-flight last week, produced a replica ‘Mr. Socko’ last season, much to the delight of the creator, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley.
