Chelsea hit back as Manchester United’s troll tweet massively backfires with Crystal Palace defeat
Chelsea fans have been ripping into Manchester United’s official Twitter account after their admins seemingly got ahead of themselves with a mocking tweet on Saturday.
The Red Devils caused a stir by posting three images of Old Trafford followed by a caption: “Wish we were playing Chelsea again, though…”
In the opening game of the season, United thumped the Blues 4-0 at their famous stadium.
However, Saturday’s match against Palace did not follow a similar pattern.
Despite almost constant pressure early on, Jordan Ayew was able to break away and put the Eagles 1-0 up after 32 minutes.
United looked to have salvaged a point on 89 minutes thanks to Daniel James’ sensational equaliser, but Patrick van Aanholt had other ideas.
The ex-Chelsea man buried a winner three minutes into added time, and turned the tables on social media, even drawing a response from the Blues themselves.
