MLB free agency rumors: Astros' Wade Miley will 'be in demand' this offseason | Sporting News
Wade Miley could have multiple options when he hits free agency.
The 32-year-old left-hander will “be in demand” this offseason, an unnamed source recently told MLB.com.
The source added:
Miley holds a 13-4 record with a 3.13 ERA in 27 starts for the Astros this season. He has struck out 129 and walked 49 in 152 1/3 innings on the mound.
“I really like the competitor,” an NL executive told MLB.com. “He’s a strike-thrower, and he gets the ball going both ways with that cutter-changeup combo, which allows his fastball to play better.”
Miley signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract with Houston in January. He began his career with the Diamondbacks, where he spent four seasons and made the All-Star team in 2012.
Miley has also pitched for the Red Sox, Mariners, Orioles and Brewers during his nine MLB seasons.
The Astros entered play Tuesday with an 85-47 record and a nine-game lead in the American League West.
