Romelu Lukaku admits he was overweight at Manchester United… but claims it was because of a digestion issue
Manchester United flop Romelu Lukaku has admitted he was overweight at Old Trafford but claims it was because of a digestive problem.
The Belgian striker was 9lbs overweight when he returned to the Premier League side from his summer break.

His apparent lack of fitness attracted criticism from United legend Gary Neville, who branded the 26-year-old unprofessional for not keeping in shape during the off-season.
But Lukaku has now insisted his weight gain was due to a problem with his digestive system, which was diagnosed after he was sent for tests following his £75million move to new club Inter Milan.
“Normally I have a fine digestive system,” the striker told ESPN.
“I digest everything very quickly. That’s how it had been my entire life.
“But what the nutritionist said to me was, it had stopped working.”
Lukaku was told by a nutritionist to change his diet to a specific regimen of mainly fish, sweet potatoes, shiitake pasta, and cooked and raw vegetables, and it appears to be doing its job.
According to ESPN recently, he lost nearly 10lbs in 12 days.
The Belgian ace has also started the new season well in Italy and will be looking to help them to a Champions League win over Slavia Prague tonight.
“I’m good now,” he added. “My body is in the zone.”

Lukaku has also said it was the right time to leave Manchester United this summer, as he ‘didn’t want to be in England anymore’.
And he believes he has found the perfect club for him in Inter.
“This could be the team I need,” he said.
“There’s the love I have for this area. The love that I have for Inter. And it was the perfect moment for me to leave England. I didn’t want to be there anymore.
“This group of players we have here is a special group. And we have the right leader in front of us to take us to the right places. Inter is an ambitious club. It wants to get back where it needs to be.
“I want to help them build something here. It’s the right move for me.”
