Liverpool fans warned to not wear red in Naples ahead of Napoli Champions League clash… but Carlo Ancelotti insists it’s a ‘beautiful’ city

Liverpool have told their supporters to avoid wearing red and to remain vigilant while in Naples ahead of their Champions League opener against Napoli.

The Reds kick-off their European campaign this evening, and talkSPORT brings you full LIVE commentary of the San Paolo clash.

And ahead of the match Liverpool have published a list of do’s and don’ts which their supporters should adhere to to avoid trouble on the Italian coast.

They include not wearing red in the city and using shuttle buses to travel to the San Paolo, and also remaining vigilant as supporters may be targeted for robbery and assault.

The two clubs met in last season’s Champions League and both ties passed without major incident, and the 2,500 travelling supporters hope for the same outcome this time around.

Carlo Ancelotti, the Napoli manager, has already defended the city, insisting it is beautiful despite suffering with a poor reputation for a long, long time.

“Napoli is not a dangerous city” said Ancelotti. “Napoli is a beautiful city.

“People can come here, enjoy the city, the sea, the food, and also the people, that is wonderful too.
