Rihanna Is Bringing Her Third Diamond Ball to N.Y.C.

Rihanna is adding a new spin to her famed charitable Diamond Ball.

After hosting the first two in Los Angeles, the “Love on the Brain” songstress is moving her third ball to New York City, with the event set to take place Sept. 14 at New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street.

As for Rihanna’s reason behind the switch-up, she said in a statement, according to Billboard, “New York always offers the perfect backdrop for an amazing event, which is why I am thrilled to have Diamond Ball there.” She added, “It’s a great way to celebrate the Clara Lionel Foundation’s accomplishments as well as bring awareness to our mission globally. I know it’ll be a night to remember!”

The move comes after her last Diamond Ball, held in Santa Monica, Calif. in 2015, raised over $3 million in donations for her Clara Lionel Foundation. In 2012, the singer founded the organization, which provides support to underprivileged communities in health, education, and art. It is named after her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.

Every year, Rihanna makes sure that the Diamond Ball is just as entertaining as it is charitable. Brad Pitt and Kevin Hart have previously served as guest speakers, for example, and she and Lionel Richie have performed as well.

Her Diamond Ball aside, Rihanna’s philanthropic efforts have not gone unnoticed. The Bajan beauty even landed Harvard University’s Humanitarian Award earlier this year.

“All you need to do is help one person, expecting nothing in return,” she said at the event. “To me, that is a humanitarian.” She added, “You don’t have to be rich to be a humanitarian, you don’t have to be rich to help somebody. You don’t have to be famous, you don’t even have to be college educated. But it starts with your neighbor … you just do whatever you can to help in any way that you can.”
