Power unit usage update for Montreal

Ahead of the seventh round of the F1 world championship held this weekend in Montreal, the main news on the power unit front is Mercedes’ introduction of a new upgraded engine.

The unit will power the Silver Arrows squad and the cars of the German manufacturer’s customers, Racing Point and Williams.

Ferrari has equipped both its cars with a new turbo and MGU-H.

In the Red Bull camp, Honda-powered runners Max Verstappen, Pierre Gasly and Dany Kvyat have all received a second energy store and second control electronics.

That addition now puts the Honda chargers – with a limit of two ES and CEs each – on the verge of a grid penalty.
