Freddie Ljungberg defends Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang… after striker took TOILET BREAK during Brighton defeat
Arsenal interim boss Freddie Ljungberg has defended Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s toilet break during Thursday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton.
The Gunners captain, who has netted 10 Premier League goals this season, temporarily left the pitch with his side trailing thanks to Neal Maupay’s 80th-minute goal.
It was later discovered that Aubameyang left the pitch to relieve himself – and Ljungberg admitted he did not even know the striker wasn’t involved in the game!
He said: “I actually didn’t even notice he went off. I just saw him come back on after he’d been off for a couple of minutes.
“When you need to go, you need to go, but if you feel bad, you feel bad, there’s nothing you can change.”
Brighton secured a first ever win at the Emirates to extend managerless Arsenal’s winless run to nine games in all competitions.

The Gunners are closer to the relegation zone (five points) than they are to a top four spot (10 points).
Ljungberg thought his players were ‘scared’ to get on the ball against a Brighton side that had lost their past three games prior to their trip to north London.
He said: “They look very short on confidence.
“In the first-half they were scared to get the ball, they were just standing still.
“That’s something we need to talk about. They need to have a win, we need to dig out a win and get them some confidence.
“They can do it because they showed it in the beginning of the second-half and they did it really well for 20 minutes.
“It’s hard to say that when you lose at home, but they were very good in that little spell.”
