Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool not thinking of Premier League title after making it 33 games unbeaten
Jurgen Klopp insists there is no chance of Liverpool getting carried away with their incredible form.
The Reds beat Bournemouth 3-0 away from home on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to 33 Premier League games.
Klopp’s side have now won 15 of their 16 top-flight matches this season and sit 11 points clear at the top of the table, putting them well on course for a first league title in 30 years.
But the German is staying calm, maintaining he and his players are simply just focusing on one match at a time.
Speaking to talkSPORT after the comfortable win at the Vitality Stadium, Klopp said of his side’s run: “We don’t think about it at all. That is the 100 per cent truth. We don’t think about the position in the table.
“The meetings we have before games I am always concerned – it is about what can we do. It is not that I am flying and can’t keep myself barely together.
Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola joke about Liverpool and Man City rivalry
“There are a lot of things you have to do right in a football game to win it. It is not important if you won the last one or not.
“We don’t really think, we don’t want to assess, we don’t want to sum up, we just want to go for the next one.
“It is a massive season, it so long and we have so many games the only thing we can do is focus on the next one.”
Goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah in a devastating 19-minute spell either side of half-time saw Liverpool to victory.
“It was a good performance, a mature performance, very professional,” reflected Klopp.
“Nice football, then controlling the game when needed. A lot of good individual performances but the team was really, really good.”
The only sour note on the south coast came when defender Dejan Lovren had to be replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 40th minute.
But Klopp, who was also without Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana because of minor issues, does not believe the Croatian’s injury to be severe ahead of Tuesday’s crucial Champions League clash with RB Salzburg.
“You don’t always know exactly but it looks not too serious, it looks like a bit of cramp,” Klopp said of Lovren.
“It’s similar to Gini Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana, not serious but serious enough to keep them out.
“We have two days to make sure that they can go again. I don’t know 100 per cent.”
