Arsenal Invincible’s team of the decade includes Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Robin van Persie but NO current players
It’s perhaps a sign of the times at Arsenal that, when talkSPORT asked Ray Parlour to pick his team of the decade, he picked NO current players.
It has been a tough ten years for the red half of north London, with the Gunners failing to add another Premier League title to their trophy haul.
They have lost their regular place in the Champions League and been eclipsed by Tottenham, finishing behind their local rivals for each of the last three Premier League seasons
It hasn’t all been doom and gloom, though. They have lifted the FA Cup three times and have managed to bring some really talented players to the Emirates Stadium…
But Parlour, part of the famous Invincibles side of 2003-04, doesn’t believe any of their current stars are good enough to be in Arsenal’s best team of the decade, as he named a surprising XI.

Take a look at the former midfielder’s team below, and here’s how he made his selection…
“I’ve gone with Cech in goal,” he told Sports Breakfast host Alan Brazil.
“We’ve had Szczesny, who is doing really well now, and I think Leno is a very good keeper but it’s a little bit early to judge him against Cech.
“At right-back, Bellerin has been excellent since he’s been at Arsenal but I would certainly choose Sagna.
“Koscielny would definitely be one of the centre-backs, but his partner was a difficult one. We had Vermaelen who was good, but you’ve got to go with Mertesacker with his experience.
“At left-back I’ve gone with Montreal, who was very consistent. I could have picked Clichy or Gibbs, but it was Monreal, for me.
“Midfield was the hardest position. I’ve gone with a diamond, it’s very attacking midfield.
“I’ve picked Wilshere, I know he had his injury problems but he was an excellent servant for the club. Santi Cazorla, what player he wans, he’s got to be in the team, and Ramsey would probably be player of the decade for Arsenal, for me. I picked Febragas in the No.10 role.
“Up front I had to pick from Lacazette, Aubameyang, Van Persie, Giroud, Sanchez, Walcott, there are so many different options.
“So I went with Sanchez, who was excellent when he was at Arsenal, and i went with Van Persie.
“Aubameyang? No. I would pick Van Persie over Aubameyang as a player, he was a top-class player.”
