Dallas Federal Building Gunman ID'd As Corpus Christi Man
DALLAS — A 22-year-old Corpus Christi and Fort Worth man was identified Monday as the gunman who opened fire in downtown Dallas, reportedly hitting a federal building and courthouse.
The FBI identified Brian Isaack Clyde, 22, as the shooter who was struck by law enforcement officers and taken to a hospital for treatment. Witnesses told media outlets they saw law enforcement officers performing CPR on the shooter. Bomb teams later performed a controlled explosion of the gunman’s vehicle.
Police warned of an “active shooter” situation around 9 a.m. after the gunman exchanged fire with federal officers. No officers or bystanders were hurt, police said.
The dramatic shootout unfolded outside the Earle Cabell Federal Building, located near Commerce Street and South Griffin Street. Videos taken by bystanders and posted on Twitter showed masked gunman wielding some sort of long gun open fire on a sidewalk. One video taken by resident Tim Brown and posted by Fox4 showed police trading bullets with the shooter.
In the video, Brown yells,”Shots fired! Shots fired! We got SWAT coming through.” At that moment three shots ring out as the lone shooter points his weapon down the sidewalk.
“Holy crap,” Brown said in the video as a barrage of shots rings out. The shooter then takes cover in a parking lot as several more shots ring out.

A photographer for the Dallas Morning News told the newspaper a masked man parked near Jackson and Griffin, ran, picked something up off the ground and then opened fire on the courthouse, damaging the glass on the door.
A photo snapped at the scene by the photographer showed several law enforcement officers hovering over a shirtless man lying on the ground. He wore dark green pants and black shoes.

Ed Modla told the newspaper he was working from home at the SoCo Urban Lofts when he heard at least 10 shots. He said he saw the shooter sprint across Griffin Street.
“As soon as I saw the shooter I got the hell away from the window,” he said.
Police later tweeted that it was still an active scene.
“The Bomb Squad is examining the suspect’s vehicle for precautionary reasons,” police tweeted.
Police Maj. Max Geron tweeted that law enforcement teams were preparing to do a “controlled detonation” of what he called a suspicious device inside the gunman’s vehicle. A photo posted on social media showed a police robot at the scene. Journalists at the scene reported hearing an explosion around 10:45 a.m.
WFAA-TV reported that police evacuated a neighboring office building due to concerns of a bomb threat.
The Dallas offices of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tweeted it was at the scene of the shooting. The agency wrote that there was a heavy law enforcement presence, including Dallas police, FBI agents, U.S. Marshals and local fire and rescue teams.
