Jake Short, Nick Wanzek bring Simley tradition to U

Redshirt freshmen Jake Short and Nick Wanzek are a couple of unassuming guys, especially lined up with the rest of the Gophers wrestling team.

In Inver Grove Heights, about 20 minutes southeast of the University of Minnesota campus, they might as well be superheroes.

Short and Wanzek hail from Simley High School — a school with an enrollment of 963 that boasts a rich wrestling tradition — and realize that competing for the Gophers is important because it proves to Simley wrestlers that hard work pays off. Continue reading at www.twincities.com
