After Interfaith Couple Controversy, There’s No Need To Show Marriage Certificate At Passport Office
There was much controversy regarding the documents of an interfaith couple recently. The Husband alleged that he was asked to convert to his wife’s religion if he wanted a passport. And then began a series of reports suggesting that the matter was regarding consistency of documents presented as a proof.
Now, the External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj has announced that marriage certificates will no more be required at the passport offices. The EAM further also announced that divorced women will no longer be required to fill the name of their ex-husband and their children of their estranged father.
