Arsenal transfer news: Shkodran Mustafi drops hint he could leave Gunners on Instagram

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has hinted on social media that he could leave the Gunners this summer.

The 27-year-old has been linked with an Emirates exit, with Unai Emery reportedly running out of patience with the error-prone centre-back.

A string of costly mistakes last season have also seen fans call for his exit.

Amid the speculation, the German has changed his Instagram profile picture, in which he no longer wears a Gunners shirt, and removed ‘Player for Arsenal’ from his bio.

BBC sports correspondent David Ornstein recently revealed that Mustafi, who joined Arsenal for £35million in 2016, is one player the Gunners are desperately trying to sell.

“Arsenal have tried to sell Mustafi pretty much every window since they signed him,” he said.

“I was told that after the Europa League final that Unai Emery, who had always put his faith in Shkodran Mustafi despite a number of high-profile mistakes, has decided enough is enough with him and he is no longer in favour of keeping him, so he could be sold.”

Arsenal have a reported transfer budget of just £45million this summer, but Emery will have access to whatever funds the club can generate from player sales.
