Backstage Details on Monday's WWE Raw Script Being Changed Late
— Monday’s WWE Raw was constantly re-written even as the show was going on, reports Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Original plans had Seth Rollins “all over the show”, Ronda Rousey taking on Alexa Bliss in a quick squash match, and Finn Balor was supposed to wrestle Ricochet.
— It was Triple H who got the Balor/Ricochet match scrapped due to the dynamics of having two babyfaces wrestle each other when neither wrestler was in a position to take a loss. As a result, this match was changed to one where the two teamed up to take on the Bobby Lashley/Lio Rush duo, even though the latter team seemingly broke up on Sunday at Elimination Chamber.
— This report goes on to state that Vince arrived at Lafayette fairly late – around 1 PM – and that the show had to be re-written because Rollins ended up not being cleared for any action due to a back injury. With all the changes, Vince felt he needed more time with Rousey’s match so they went back with Ruby Riott again feeling it would be a safer option than a long Rousey/Bliss match.
— The actual script for Raw was not done until 30 minutes into the show and changes were still being made as the second hour was airing.
