Backstage Update On Current WrestleMania 34 Match Plans for Ronda Rousey

As noted, WWE has been discussing teaming up Ronda Rousey with a former WWE star, possibly The Rock, to face the team of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34.

According to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, WWE officials are still planning to feature Rousey in some type of mixed tag team match at the big PPV in New Orleans this year, and as of now the company’s leading choice to team with Rousey is still The Rock.

Should Rock not be available to compete at WrestleMania this year, other names being discussed as potential Rousey partners include Seth Rollins, Shane McMahon and WWE Raw GM Kurt Angle.

If The Rock’s movie filming schedule does not allow him to appear at WrestleMania 34, the most likely options for Rousey are Angle and Rollins, as neither man has a current plan for the PPV. Rollins was originally set to face Jason Jordan at the PPV, however Jordan’s injury and subsequent surgery have put his WrestleMania status in serious jeopardy.

As we noted after Rousey’s surprise debut at the WWE Royal Rumble PPV in January, one of the reasons why WWE is high on using Rousey in the company is so that she can elevate the mainstream star power of Stephanie McMahon.
