Baron Corbin Inches Past Cedric Alexander to King of the Ring Semifinals
We may be less than two weeks away from Baron Corbin becoming a King.
Corbin defeated former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander this Monday night on Raw to advance to the semifinals of the King of the Ring tournament, in what many have celebrated as one of the best matches of the Superstar’s young career.
Next in line? Well, that’s where things get a little bit tricky…
During the second of two quarterfinal matches on Monday Night Raw, both Ricochet and Samoa Joe fought to an inconclusive end, as both Superstars’ shoulders appeared to be down on the mat for the referee’s full count of three.
In a backstage segment later in the evening (that’s correct, they didn’t even make an official ruling after the match), referee John Cone announced (rather rudely, we might add) that Corbin will now have to face both Samoa Joe and Ricochet in a triple threat match.
That bout will go down next Monday night, as WWE Raw returns to the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. The winner of the triple threat bout will advance to the King of the Ring finals on Sunday, September 15 at WWE Clash of Champions, live on pay-per-view.
