Birmingham face possible second points deduction after being charged for breaching EFL regulations again
Birmingham could be deducted points for a second successive season after revealing they have been charged for breaching EFL regulations.
Blues were hit with a nine-point deduction last term for breaking the English Football League’s profit and sustainability rules, with the St Andrew’s club also having a financial business plan imposed on them as part of the sanction.
Birmingham are alleged to have breached EFL regulations concerning this business plan – a charge they denied in a statement.
“The club confirms that it has been charged with a breach of EFL regulations in relation to a business plan imposed upon us in the 2018/19 season,” the club statement read.
“The club denies the charge and we await the outcome of ongoing disciplinary proceedings.
“We shall be making no further comment at this time.”

Birmingham have endured a tough campaign under Pep Clotet, who was appointed permanent manager last month having served on an interim basis since June.
They are only six points clear of the bottom three and a new points deduction would place serious doubts over their Championship survival hopes.
If hit with the same punishment as last season – a nine-point deduction – Blues would find themselves bottom of the table on 20 points, one point behind both Barnsley and Luton.
