Borussia Dortmund boss drops Jadon Sancho for Barcelona clash and says winger ‘not focused and ready’ amid transfer speculation
Jadon Sancho’s Borussia Dortmund future was plunged into doubt by manager Lucien Favre after the winger was dropped for the Barcelona clash.
Sancho, who is reportedly a transfer target for several top clubs including Barcelona, was a surprise omission from the starting XI for the Champions League group match at the Nou Camp.
Sancho did come off the bench with his side losing and scored a stunning goal to make it 3-1 and silence a few critics.

Addressing the decision to name the England international on the bench before the game, Favre told Sky Sports: “We need players on the pitch who are focused and ready.”
It follows reports that the 19-year-old has been left feeling ‘humiliated and scapegoated’ by his recent treatment at the Bundesliga club.
He was slapped with an £86,000 fine and dropped for one game after returning late from international duty in October.
And then earlier this month, Favre hauled him off after just 36 minutes of Dortmund’s embarrassing 4-0 defeat by fierce rivals Bayern Munich.
And The Athletic claims the youngster has been left feeling victimised by the German club.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also thought to be ready to pounce if Sancho becomes available.
