Breaking News: Hulk Hogan Rejoins WWE Hall of Fame After Three-Year Suspension

Hulk Hogan, 64, has been officially reinstated as a full-fledged member of the WWE Hall of Fame following a three-year “suspension” from the company, which cut all ties with him in 2015.

News of Hogan’s “suspension” comes as a bit of surprise to many, as at the time it was very clearly a firing; WWE officially terminated his contract and scrubbed all mention of his name and likeness from all of their properties including video games, merchandising and the Hall of Fame wing of their website. This was in response to the leak of a controversial sex tape wherein the wrestling icon made several racist remarks, mostly focussing on his disgust that his daughter, Brooke, was allegedly dating an African-American man.

In the tape, Hogan stated that if Brooke were “going to f–k some n—-r” that he would rather she “marry some eight-foot tall n—-r worth a hundred million dollars, like a basketball player.” He then claimed, “I guess we’re all a little bit racist” before ending his brief rant with yet another racial slur.

Since his firing, the Hulkster has been completely ostracized from the pro wrestling community, and has spent his time doing interviews and working with communities like the Boys & Girls Club of America in order to restore his name and has publicly apologized for his actions on numerous occasions. Although, Hogan has also received heavy criticism from some in that his apologies have generally been filled with explanations and excuses for why he said what he said, rather than simply owning up to his actions.

WWE has issued the following statement:

STAMFORD, Conn. — After a three-year suspension, Hulk Hogan has been reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame. This second chance follows Hogan’s numerous public apologies and volunteering to work with young people, where he is helping them learn from his mistake. These efforts led to a recent induction into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame.

In case you missed it, Hogan was also spotted leaving the Cleveland, OH airport late last night, which is just a short two-hour drive to Pittsburgh for tonight’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view. It was noted that he has zero announced appearances in the area, that he was traveling with long-time travel companion Jimmy Hart, and that he even posted a photo on Twitter “from his back yard” around the same time that he was on board the plane, seemingly attempting to throw people off his trail.
