Brick, NJ, Man Made Bomb Threat At Disney World: Authorities

A 56-year-old New Jersey man was arrested this week and accused of making a bomb threat at Walt Disney World, according to authorities.

Gregory Lazarchick of Brick was jailed in Florida on Tuesday on a $5,000 and charged with making a false bomb threat, according to Orange County, Fla. jail records. The threat happened in July, and he was arrested and housed in Ocean County jail in New Jersey until this week.

Lazarchick allegedly told a Walt Disney World hotel worker, “Al-Qaida sent me here to blow the place up,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported in an affidavit.

Authorities reported that the incident happened on July 21, when a greeter at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa told Gregory Lazarchick, “Have a great day,” according to the Springfield News-Sun. Lazarchick reportedly replied, “I don’t want to have a great day.”

Lazarchick turned around while walking away, according to the Springfield News-Sun, and told the greeter, “You think I am joking? I’m not.” Lazarchick also allegedly told the greeter, “What if I don’t want to have a great morning?”

The greeter thought Lazarchick made the threat with a straight face and seemed serious, according to WFTV. Investigators said Lazarchick admitted to making the statement but said he had been joking, and said he was remorseful and apologized for his remarks.

Lazarchick’s sister told investigators that her brother suffered a head injury four years ago and had been resuscitated, brought back to life and has not been right since, according to WFTV. She told them her brother sometimes blurts out inappropriate comments, including about President Obama, and that his wife died last year and his son has autism, according to authorities.

According to obituaries online, Lazarchick’s father, James, and his wife, Jodi, died just over two months apart in 2016, James on Sept. 9 and Jodi on Nov. 19. A GoFundme that was set up after Jodi’s death said she died of a stroke and had been the family’s support after Lazarchick suffered a cardiac arrest.
