Burnley vs Liverpool: Team news and predicted line-ups as Reds try to stop red-hot Ashley Barnes

Liverpool will be hoping to continue their 100 per cent start to the season when they face Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday evening.

You can listen to exclusive commentary of the match LIVE on talkSPORT – kick-off 5:30pm – the last of our three commentaries on GameDay.

Jurgen Klopp’s men overcame their first big test of the Premier League season as they swept aside Arsenal at Anfield with Mohamed Salah’s double helping them to a 3-1 win.

The result means the Reds are the only side in England’s top four divisions to achieve maximum points from their 2019/20 league fixtures.

However, they come up against a Burnley side who have acquitted themselves well this season, even if they haven’t necessarily got the results they wanted.

Burnley almost claimed a victory at Wolves last weekend but a stoppage-time penalty from Raul Jimenez and Sean Dyche’s men were perhaps unfortunate to not get something when they played Arsenal away in gameweek two.

Sean Dyche’s men did suffer a shock exit from the Carabao Cup in midweek after losing 3-1 at home to League One Sunderland, although a number of Burnley’s first-team players were absent.

The Clarets will be without Johann Berg Gudmundsson for the Liverpool game.

The Iceland winger suffered a calf injury midway through the second half of the draw at Wolves and was withdrawn. Manager Sean Dyche is confident he will be available after the international break.

Fellow winger Robbie Brady stepped up his recovery from a fractured rib with a 75-minute run-out for the under-23s earlier this week although he is unlikely to be in contention to face the European champions, while midfielder Steven Defour remains a long-term absentee.

Reds goalkeeper Alisson Becker will again be missing as he recovers from a calf injury.

Midfielder Naby Keita, who has not played since the Community Shield because of a hip/groin injury, is also absent.

Manager Jurgen Klopp could be tempted to make changes to his midfield having started with Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson last weekend, with James Milner an option.
